Like many new and truly revolutionary ideas, Random Designer is sometimes
misunderstood: It is far easier to simply dismiss that which does not fit
neatly within an established religious or theological doctrine. In addition,
newspaper articles and book reviews (subject to editorial changes, and
personal, religious, or even atheistic agendas) sometimes fail to capture
the true essence of the message.
During the spring semester of 2005, Dr. Colling was the featured speaker
in a special colloquium series presented to faculty and students of Olivet
Nazarene University. In this two-part series, Dr. Colling, in his own
words, provides an essential overview of science-faith issues, introduces
the main messages of Random Designer, and articulates appropriate Christian
responses to science, evolution, and to the latest version of
creationism - Intelligent Design.
He also identifies some critical
challenges, and also glowing opportunities confronting the faith community
in contemporary culture, especially relating to science education and
general evangelical Christian credibility.
