Welcome to the Random Designer web site!
I wanted to share some personal thoughts with you about myself
and why I wrote Random Designer - a book that builds a bridge
between science and faith.
For the past 24 years, I have been a college biology professor,
teaching bright young students the molecular nature of life.
My own introduction to the sciences began in a high school physics class.

Here I found myself entranced by the
power of science to reveal the hidden secrets of our world, and I was mesmerized by the competing forces
which simultaneously held the world together, yet also tore it apart. To truly understand how the world worked,
it seemed to me that force vectors, neutrinos, gravity, relativity and electrochemistry held the keys. I remember
thinking that one day I would become a nuclear physicist and probe the deepest mysteries of the universe.
As a college student, I majored in chemistry and biology. In my second year, I enrolled in a microbiology
course, and within weeks, I was hooked! The world of microbiology is especially intriguing because virtually
everything is invisible! Yet hidden in this invisible world, I soon discovered a reality that I had never known –
tiny entities such as bacteria, viruses, cells, proteins, and genes.
