Here is a book that brings faith and science together in fresh ways! Rather
than finding God in the universe's order, Dr. Richard Colling celebrates the randomness that
scientists recognize in our universe and suggests that this characteristic of randomness
points humanity to God. What is particularly noteworthy here is that Dr. Colling sees this
randomness not as a "proof" for God's existence, but as that which calls humanity to faith in God.
This book reflects the author's care in balancing the complexities of science and theology. On
the one hand, Dr. Colling brings his expertise as a scientist to the table, but he crafts his
explanations in ways that non-scientists can understand. On the other hand, he writes not as
a "professional" theologian but as a layperson who has something theological that needs to be
shared. Thus, we have a new voice to be welcomed into the conversations relating to science
and faith. And this is a voice to which we need to listen!
